# Conflict Transformation

As outlined in our values, we practise the art of [**active listening**](/accordi-valori-metodi.-lhandbook-di-amigdala/agreements-values-methods-eng/how-we-do-it/our-core-values.md#greater-than-ascolto-di-se-e-delle-altre) in all our interactions, in order to recognise and respond to each other’s needs. We are committed to addressing tensions as they arise, rather than waiting until problems become too large to manage.

Our **conflict transformation protocol** includes three successive steps:

1. **Initial Dialogue**\
When a tension or conflict emerges, the people involved are responsible for initiating a conversation to clarify the situation. This meeting should take place in an atmosphere of mutual respect, ideally in an informal setting.
2. **Peer Mediation**\
If the conflict is not resolved, those involved may ask another *compagna* to step in as a **mediator** and facilitate a second meeting. This person will help to create a safe space for dialogue and understanding.
3. **Follow-up and Support**\
It is considered good practice to schedule a **follow-up moment** a few months later to check in on the situation and address any lingering issues.

In more serious cases, the ***Vedetta*** (Lookout) **Group** may decide to seek the support of a **professional mediator and/or psychologist** to help address the issue.
